PENETRANT INSPECTION
Magnaflux certified fluorescent and visible
dye penetrant inspection materials deliver
unmatched performance in the detection of
small defects and discontinuities in almost
any non-porous material.
Magnaflux Zyglo fluorescent and Spotcheck visible liquid penetrant testing materials are the industry’s most
preferred and widely used NDT products employed in the detection of cracks and fine surface discontinuities in
ferrous and non-ferrous test materials. Formulated from superior quality dyes and solvents they produce vivid
indications in virtually all non-porous materials, and are supported by an expansive line-up of certified penetrants,
cleaners, developers, emulsifiers, accessories and equipment.
Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), also known as Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) or Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), is a widely used non-destructive testing (NDT) method to detect surface defects and discontinuities in various materials. It is particularly effective for finding flaws that are open to the surface, such as cracks, porosity, laps, and other surface imperfections.
The FPI method is known for its sensitivity to fine surface cracks and defects, making it highly effective in detecting flaws that may not be apparent to the naked eye. It is commonly used in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and other industries for quality control and safety assessment of critical components, welds, and structures. FPI is a versatile and reliable technique that does not damage the inspected parts and can be applied to a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, ceramics, and composites.
