Magnaflux ZL-27A Level 3 Post Emulsifiable Fluorescent Penetrant
This advanced penetrant is designed for critical inspections requiring maximum process control and reliability, particularly in safety-critical aerospace testing. The ZL-27A is a high-sensitivity Type 1 penetrant that excels in detecting fine discontinuities while minimizing the risk of over-washing, ensuring the highest reliability in penetrant inspection methods.
With a high flash point, ZL-27A offers long tank life when used in open dip tanks and can be applied via various methods, including electrostatic spray. For effective removal of surface penetrant before applying developer, utilize the ZE-4E Method B lipophilic emulsifier or the ZR-10E Method D hydrophilic emulsifier.r
Recognized on the QPL SAE AMS 2644 Qualified Product List, ZL-27A is also approved for use by Pratt & Whitney.
Benefits
Enhance Indication Detection
-
Bright, clear indications are easier to detect, even for small flaws, due to high UV and thermal stability.
-
Minimized background fluorescence ensures indications stand out, as emulsifiers only remove surface penetrant.
Maximize Inspection Process Control
-
Prevents over-washing since ZL-27A is not water-soluble unless emulsified.
-
Less susceptible to human error, with only surface penetrant removed in the final rinse stage.
Wide Range of Inspections
- Suitable for high-value components without risk of corrosion or non-conformance.
- Complies with major industry and NDT specification requirements, including AMS 2644 and ISO 3452.
Operator Comfort and Safety
- Enhances inspection quality by providing a comfortable working environment.
- Reduces strong odors and exceeds EHS requirements.
